AlliA chooses the Kyoto building to combine sustainability, mobility and well-being at work

Why did you choose the Kyoto building, and how important was sustainability in your decision?
Our move into the Kyoto building marks the culmination of a process aimed at consolidating our office space within a single location. As an independent insurance brokerage firm, AlliA was built through the merger of several local companies, ensuring strong proximity-based expertise. We were therefore looking for a place capable of accommodating our nearly 40 employees in an environment that was sustainable, modern and high-quality. Kyoto met all these criteria. We chose the spaces on the 9th and top floor, which offer an outstanding view over Geneva: on one side, the Jet d’Eau and the city; on the other, the Jura mountains, all within a leafy setting. Crea’Projets supported us in fitting out these new spaces, which we wanted to be functional, bright and pleasant to work in.

How do you think your employees will adapt to the environment around the Kyoto building?
The transition happened very naturally. Our employees appreciate the proximity to the city centre and the excellent public transport connections, which will be further strengthened with the arrival of the tram. We have also established very good relationships with the other occupants of the building: an event organised shortly after our arrival helped create very positive first exchanges. The on-site services, such as the EVO fitness centre and the UBS branch on the ground floor, also contribute to everyday comfort. Finally, the showers and changing rooms in the basement are particularly appreciated, especially by employees who come by bike or exercise during their lunch break. Two AlliA teams registered for the Geneva Marathon were able to train nearby and shower directly on site after their runs.

Does your organisation encourage all employees to use soft mobility to commute to work, and if so, how?
Sustainability is a priority for us, including when it comes to commuting. In practical terms, we cover the full cost of our employees’ TPG public transport passes upon presentation of proof of purchase. It is a simple but effective measure that encourages the daily use of public transport and forms part of our commitment to limiting reliance on private cars.
How do you see the district around Kyoto developing in the coming years?
The district is still relatively quiet today, but it has real potential. The arrival of the Nations tram should improve accessibility and help bring more life to the area. With the development of neighbouring projects such as Passage Morillons, we believe this zone will gradually become more dynamic and an increasingly attractive working environment for our employees.
