UBS is moving into the Kyoto building
Why is the sustainability of the Kyoto building important to UBS?
UBS recently published a detailed roadmap outlining how it intends to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from all aspects of its business by 2050. The bank aims to lead by example by continuously developing and refining its products and services to make them as sustainable as possible, by focusing on climate risks as part of its risk management, and by sharing best practice with stakeholders.
The Kyoto building is a good example of the implementation of this strategy, as it meets high sustainability standards. In addition, its presence in the Green Village, whose neighborhood has been certified as “SEED next generation living,” confirms that this building is in line with the bank’s sustainability requirements.
How do you think your employees will fit into the environment of Kyoto and Green Village?
We’re confident that our employees will adapt quickly and easily to their new working environment. After all, they’re already familiar with the area, UBS being present at the WHO, the ILO and the Palais des Nations for a long time.
The bank is therefore well established in the area and all our staff are delighted to be able to continue serving Geneva’s international community from a street-side location, an additional asset that will make our services more accessible to a segment of our clientele.

Does UBS encourage its employees to use soft mobility to get to work, and if so, how?
Absolutely. UBS encourages its employees to use soft mobility as much as possible by providing free electric bicycles and half-price transit passes for employees whose location requires them to travel regularly.
The bank also participates in initiatives such as “Bike to Work” to encourage employees to leave their cars in the garage and commute to work.
Why was the Kyoto building an ideal location for a UBS branch?
Since 1919, UBS has been an active player in the international community, with a local presence in Geneva. As a result, the bank has developed a wealth of experience and expertise in serving the many staff, stakeholders and partners of the UN agencies. In this context, proximity to these agencies was a key factor in the decision. The Kyoto building offers an ideal location, at the crossroads of major communication axes (Route des Nations and the future tramway nearby). In this way, we can serve all our clients, both those of the city and those of the international Geneva, to which we remain very close.
